What is tissue mapping?
There are various diseases that affect the heart muscle – including COVID-19. Many times, a heart biopsy is needed to determine if the heart muscle is healthy. Tissue mapping is a non-invasive way to gain detailed information about potential abnormalities that could be damaging to the function of your heart muscle.

What information will tissue mapping provide?
A tissue mapping MRI will provide valuable information about the heart muscle. This test will identify the following:

- Inflammation or swelling caused by infections such as COVID-19
- Presence of abnormal proteins (amyloidosis), inflammatory cells (sarcoidosis), or fatty cells
- Presence of iron within the heart muscle
