Heart & lung health

Heart and lung function measured under stress conditions are better barometers of health than when they are measured under resting conditions. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is an effective tool to evaluate exercise performance and functional capacity in individuals.

The information provided by CPET includes an integrated exercise response of the heart, lung, musculoskeletal, vascular, and hematopoietic systems. CPET is a non-invasive test. As you pedal a stationary bike with increasing loads, your heart rate, your ECG, inhaled oxygen content and exhaled CO2 content are all measured, until you reach your maximal exercise capacity. From these measurements, detailed information about the function of your heart, lungs, and metabolism are calculated.
