CPET

What is a CPET?

A CPET is a specialized stress test used to evaluate overall heart and lung health. This integrative test identifies how conditions that effect heart, lung, blood vessel, or muscle function contribute to your health. Through measuring the amount of oxygen your body uses during exercise, we can gather a comprehensive physiological overview.

What information will a CPET provide?

A CPET will provide valuable information about your body’s response to exercise. This test will provide the following information:

  • Peak oxygen consumption (VO2 max)
  • Peak heart rate
  • Peak work
  • Peak ventilation
  • Cause of shortness of breath (heart or pulmonary condition, etc.)
  • Anaerobic threshold
  • Heart rate reserve
  • Breathing reserve
  • Respiratory exchange ratio
