Dr. Muthupillai graduated from the University of Madras in India and earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences: Biomedical Imaging from the renowned Mayo Graduate School in 1997.
Since graduating, Dr. Muthupillai has gained over three decades of experience in the bio-medical imaging field with a special interest in the development and application of cardiovascular MR imaging methods and procedures.
His expertise and specialized interests led him to become a founding member and the Chief Technology Officer of Live Healthy Imaging. Additionally, he is on staff at the Texas Heart Institute and is a Research Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Houston. Dr. Muthupillai has served multiple appointments, with notable positions including the Director of Imaging Research at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and the MRI Senior Clinical Scientist for Philips Medical Systems at the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. Throughout his career, Dr. Muthupillai has published extensively and has numerous patents to his credit.
He is board certified in the field of medical physics by American Board of Radiology (ABR), American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), and American Board of MR Safety (MRSE/ABMRS).
Dr. Muthupillai enjoys teaching the art and science of medical imaging to students, research/clinical fellows, and clinicians. In his free time, he loves reading books, discussing philosophy and watching basketball. He currently resides in Pearland, Texas and enjoys life with his wife and two daughters.
Dr. Cheong graduated from Liverpool University Medical School, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from the Cleveland Clinic and Tulane University and completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular MRI and CT from the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas.
Since graduating, Dr. Cheong has gained over two decades of experience in radiology and has served at many distinguished appointments, most notably as the Clinical Director as well as the Fellowship Program Director for Cardiovascular MRI and CT at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital/Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas. He is a founding member of Live Healthy Imaging, where he practices as the onsite cardiovascular imaging specialist.
In his free time, Dr. Cheong enjoys playing tennis and is an avid Pokémon fan. He also collects vintage fountain pens and enjoys fountain pen nib tuning.
Dr. Cheong holds credentials from several prestigious societies including the American College of Cardiology, Royal College of Physicians (London and Edinburgh), Society of Cardiovascular CT, Society of Cardiovascular MR, and a Diplomat of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. He has published extensively and is well-recognized for his expertise in the field.
He is board certified by the Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
Dr. Shih obtained her PhD from the prestigious Mayo Graduate School with a specialization in radiation therapy. Following her residency training at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Shih joined the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center as one of the first women physicists on staff.
Since graduating, Dr. Shih has gained over two decades of experience in the field of radiation therapy. She has remained a leading expert in holistic health since 2012 and utilizes her years of experience and insight in holistic health to render advanced imaging methods not as merely tools to diagnose disease, but as essential tools to define health and prevent sickness. Dr. Shih is a pioneer scientist who developed approaches to measure wellness using whole-body infrared imaging. Since then, she has trained and worked with many leading scientists and physicians who are trailblazers of their respective fields.
She is currently the Director of Wellness at Live Healthy Imaging, and has served at many appointments, with notable positions such as an Associate Professor at UT MD Anderson and the Director of TTM Wellness Center and is the Founder of Flow-of-Light Natural Health in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Shih has published extensively in leading scientific journals on the topic of radiation therapy and has been board certified by the American Board of Radiology since 1999.
Outside of work, Dr. Shih is an active community leader who advocates for holistic, sustainable living and environmental protection.
As the chief imaging specialist at Live Healthy Imaging, Mr. Claudio Arena brings a wealth of experience as a radiographer for over four decades. He is passionate about obtaining high quality images on every patient that he images. He has developed several novel methods to expedite image acquisition and effectively use advances in medical imaging to improve patient care. Mr. Arena has won numerous awards at the prestigious annual meeting of the Society of Magnetic Resonance Technologist (SMRT) for his innovative approach and techniques. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring young radiographers on the art and science of radiography.
Mr. Arena is a renaissance man with varied interests from making a good espresso (and teaching others how to enjoy a good espresso), to cooking and enjoying fine Italian cuisine. He loves playing chess as well as tinkering with his motorcycle and his car. He lives in Sugarland, Texas and comes to work when he feels like it.
